Objects are a way to shape place beyond space.
Fundamental.objects emerged from Bastiaan Kalmeyer’s background in urbanism, architecture and design. What began as a personal ambition to create his own work soon became a natural extension of our practice in landscape, gastronomy and atmosphere. The first pieces were developed for our own spaces and dining experiences, and have since grown into objects for other restaurants, galleries and projects.

The Objects investigate our species relationship with our surroundings and its industrial made landscape, where the materials originate in the building industry, but with a trompe-l'œil twist.
The current series is driven by the materiality of natural materials such as rocks, sand, clay - the original human-natural environment. Objects that look rough, but feel soft and intriguing, and with an emphasis on an intrinsic duality of use at, on or around the dining table.
